Start with the basic format of a topic or question about a specific topic, then write an essay on that topic, with enough information to cover the topic.The key to getting past this stage is to use all the time and resources available to you; whether that is in the library, talking to your peers, or even just browsing the Internet. All of these things are excellent sources of information, and often you can get an idea of what questions other students are thinking about, and from there, can come up with an interesting answer.Then, write your essay as if you were thinking of an answer yourself, and write a few drafts before you have a chance to spend too much time on it. This is much easier than trying to come up with an original topic, and even if you don't come up with an original topic, you will likely be able to come up with a great question that the other students will need to answer.If you keep your mind working and think of topics as you are writing your essays, you should have no problem coming up with topics that you can write about.
